I have been "skeert" of the whole recording process. There are myriad decisions to make regarding rhythm, texture, instruments, etc. And time is money, so the pressure is on, not only to make those decisions, but also to perform well.
It's complicated, so much more than just playing guitar and singing into a microphone. Timing, pitch, and even breathing, need to be perfect.
In my recording session this week, the arrangement evolved while I was in the process, thanks to the help of my friend and recording engineer, Jerialice. She had some awesome ideas. I was envisioning something simple— like voice, guitar, and maybe an additional voice track for harmony. But the end result was something quite different, almost symphonic.
That's how the creative process works. It's exciting and scary. I think they call that "exhilarating."
