I was driving from Houston to Dallas and wanted to hear some talk radio or news to find out what was going on in the world. I was about 50 miles outside of Dallas, so I didn't anticipate much of a problem picking up my favorite station. Sure enough, it came in loud and clear... for about 5 minutes.
Then suddenly it became blaring Tejano music. Ack! The announcer was right in the middle of a sentence! I tried scanning back and forth, hoping to catch the signal again, but it was gone. Every once in a while it would come in loud and clear, only to disappear again. It was frustrating, because I should have been inside the listening area by then, as I was getting closer to town. But a smaller station that happened to be closer, interfered with the signal.
Our spiritual life is kind of like that. God transmits a really strong signal! But, even when we try to tune Him in, there are other signals that interfere. I'm not just talking about the tangible things of life, but also spiritual signals. The atmosphere is full of energy of all kinds, including the enemy's distraction. He might be defeated, but he hasn't given up fighting yet.
One thing's for sure: God is still broadcasting, and he is ever patient for us to tune in.
