What is your soul sustenance?
Recently I spent a couple short days with a long-time dear friend. She was sustenance for my soul in so many ways.
First, there was the fellowship. Denise and I were college roommates, and we developed an unbreakable bond during those formative years. Our lives have crossed paths in interesting ways over the years... probably the most interesting was giving birth to our first baby boys on the very same day! Our due dates were a month apart. Her Jamie was two weeks late, and my Ryan was two weeks early.
We haven't lived in the same city since we left our college town, but distance doesn't cast a shadow on our relationship.
Truth be told, while I am the cheerleader of "relationship, relationship, relationship," I can't even count on one hand the truly close relationships I have. Denise has been the sister I never had. She knows how to do it, because she has two sisters of her own. I try not to envy her for it.
I also try not to envy her creativity. She is a quilt artist (See a picture of one of her beauties above). I was blown away by the beautiful quilts that adorned the walls and other spaces of her home. This was the other reason that my visit with Denise was "Soul Sustenance." I'm trying not to beat myself up about how unproductive I've been of late, and instead just take a whiff of the beautiful scent of creativity that my friend exudes and allow it to inspire me out of my slump.
So I will now return to my office/studio and see what the Holy Spirit would like me to express, and I pray that I can be a conduit of His love for you, and that you will find and grasp your soul sustenance wherever it may be.
