Walking a Tightrope

My patrons are an eclectic group of people. Some Episcopalians, some evangelicals, some charismatics, some who defy definition.

Some of you stop total strangers in Walmart and ask if you can pray for them, some of you carry Jesus so deep in your heart, you're not sure where you stop and he starts. And some of you are still trying to figure out who Jesus is and why it's so important to follow him.

You are my melting pot. You are who I melt into as part of the concoction that is sometimes referred to as the Body of Christ.

My desire is to know you more deeply and have you know me more deeply. But how do we do that? My relational style has always been a bit like singing into a barrel and then writing about it with invisible ink.

Dwelling within me is a deep longing to be understood and to understand ... and at the same time... a deep-seated fear of rejection and commitment.

Not knowing whether falling will be sublime or painful, I walk a tightrope. Is it possible that we are all a bunch of tightrope walkers?
