Just in case you were wondering. ;) . . .
To me, it doesn't seem like I'm all that busy, but now that I sit down and try to list all of the things I've been doing and that I'm planning to do, it's no wonder I'm scatter-brained!
Last Sunday, my ensemble sang at a special performance at one of the retirement homes that we frequent. The day before that, we practiced. We normally practice twice a month on Saturdays... which often precludes my attendance at the Order of St. Luke meetings and events, but I feel that the small ministry the ensemble provides is something that uplifts spirits and gives elderly, secluded people an opportunity to stay in touch with their spiritual roots through song.
I also lead a group of folks in song at another retirement home where my friend, Don, is chaplain. He has a weekly morning Bible study there, and I show up once a month or so to sing with them. They really love singing, and I'm always blessed by spending time with them.
For a year or so, I've been doing music with 1st and 2nd grade Sunday schoolers at Grace Bible Church, but I'm beginning to do more at St. Luke's on Sundays, so that time at Grace is getting squeezed out. It's really hard to choose when I'm involved in more than one group of believers. But that seems to be my life! I can't pick and choose one group over another, so I run around like a chicken with my head cut off among the different groups.
Another faith gathering that I'm trying to become more involved in is a homeless service conducted by a beloved retired Episcopal priest friend. I have done music for them once, on a Sunday afternoon, and plan to join with them more often.
I was asked to lead a "tabernacle meditation" at the North American OSL conference. OSL is the Order of St. Luke the Physician, an ecumenical healing ministry that I'm a member of. I'm flattered to be asked, and very excited about the opportunity—and of course, a bit anxious. I lead soaking prayer at our healing center regularly, but this is a much bigger scale. So please pray that God will guide me in my planning and practicing.
Last weekend I led music at a retreat for the ladies of St. Peter and Paul and Church of the Redeemer Anglican churches. I love those ladies! This is the third year they have invited me, and I look forward to it each year with greater anticipation. The more I spend time with them, the more I feel a part of their wonderful community.
The weekend before that I led music at a Cursillo weekend. Being on Cursillo team is a great privilege and blessing. The weekend is a bit grueling, and I usually need a week to recuperate! But it's so worth it!
In the meantime, I try to help my husband with his business. I'm not very good at it, so it's kinda stressful for me.
My mom will be 90 years old soon, and she lives with us. She's not a typical 90-year-old, as she is a great help to me around the house. But I do try to help her when she needs assistance with insurance, medical things, etc. I'm very blessed to have my mom with me. She thinks she's a burden, and she frets about it, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
In the middle of all of these things in my life, I'm also in "boot camp" with Incubator. It's not as strenuous as it sounds! It's kind of like going to school. I study, I write, I create audios and videos, I pray for my patrons and try to keep in touch with them, and soon I'll be starting voice lessons with a renowned teacher, Dr. Scott Martin. I'm so blessed by Incubator's guidance. I'd just be sloshing along if they weren't holding me accountable and spurring me on!
So...my blog posts are only supposed to be 100 words or so, and I've written about 7 times that much! But I feel like I'm out of touch with many of you, and thought I'd give you an opportunity to get a glimpse into what I'm doing. Your prayers keep me going! God bless you.
